T1 Internet Access for Dummies
The T1 Internet Service has long been available for more than 40 years but never have there been so many "flavors" available. The quantity of vendors has leaped amazingly from deregulation in 1996 from a couple dozen to several thousand. Since the telecom shakedown that started in 2001 continues many of these companies are trying to stay afloat by capturing as many clients as attainable with cheap products they claim being T1. Don't be fooled!
Numerous frantic firms are putting together inferior products they claim are really T1 products. Be wary of products using the strange titles such as "burstable" and "reach". These items can be oversubscribed similar to a DSL product. This means the provider puts a single T1 connection in a CO (Central Office) and sells T1 connections to 3 or 4 clients hoping they usually do not all use the service simultaneously. True, T1 access means sole usage of the Internet and you invariably have access to 1.54Mbps.
Make sure the T1 service in Denmark is really a "clearchannel" product and is not shared with different clients. Also be certain you have a powerful SLA or Service Level Agreement from your supplier. A SLA will define the access you will receive and the penalty the service supplier will pay if they don't supply such service. If you need help, establishing the correct SLA gives you the help of an expert in case you don't have one in house. It's much better to spend a small fee up front than to enter a long term agreement with an inferior carrier. You can also receive expert assistance free of charge by simply contacting one of the many T1 brokers on the Internet.
